STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in one true God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried. He descended into Hell, and on the third day rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son and is the Spirit of God Himself. He comes to bear witness to the truth, to draw people to Jesus for salvation, and to give life to their spirits when they repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts people of sin, righteousness, and judgement and He produces the fruit of the Holy Spirit as described in the Scriptures. He empowers Christians for service and can equip them with supernatural gifts to do the work of God.
We believe that Jesus is the only savior of men and no person over the age of accountability can be saved without believing in, and submitting to Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives.
We believe that the only means of being reconciled to God is through the blood of Jesus Christ shed at Calvary as a perfect and eternal atonement for the sins of those who believe. We believe that God calls each of us to do good works which He has prepared in advance for us to do, but these are not the means by which our sins are forgiven.
We believe that God calls us to repentance and baptism in response to the Gospel and as evidence of our faith in Christ.
We believe in Satan as a literal created being who, along with other evil spirits, seeks to deceive mankind and lead us away from the knowledge of God and into sin; and we believe in angels who far outnumber the demons, and who are spirit beings created by God who do His bidding and minister on behalf of those who will inherit salvation.
We believe in the literal second coming of Jesus Christ, who will appear in the sky with the armies of heaven, to resurrect the dead, catch the remaining believers away to heaven, and judge the unbelievers for their sin.
We believe in the conscious joyful presence of believers in the presence of God for eternity and the eternal conscious tormented presence of unbelievers in the Lake of Fire.
We believe in loving one another and bearing one another’s burdens, so fulfilling the Law of Christ; and that no man is to presume to live his life without regard for other people.
We believe that relationships are paramount; that loving God and loving others are the two greatest commandments; and that the true evidence that we are disciples of Jesus Christ will be the degree to which we love one another.
We believe that the teachings of Jesus and the apostles make it paramount to attempt reconciliation with those who have offended us and to forgive as Christ forgave us. We believe that those who would scorn or disregard such attempts should not shepherd Christ’s flock.
We believe that God’s standard for sexual relationships is one man and one woman united in marriage for life, and that all sexual activity outside of this union is a sin from which we are to repent.
We believe that God calls all of us to live lives of love, purity, truth, justice, humility, and simplicity; that as His children born of His Spirit, he calls us to know Him, to learn His ways, pick up the cross of Christ daily, and follow in His footsteps. We believe that God is changing us into His image, and that as Christians our lives will be different from the secular world around us.
We believe that this world is not our home, but we look forward to a heavenly city whose builder and maker is God; that every person has been influenced by the culture in which he has been raised, but none of the world’s cultures perfectly reflect the way of God; that there is a new way, a heavenly way, and that God calls all of Mankind to put aside the ways handed down by our forefathers and in humility to learn and practice the ways of Christ.
And in all matters,
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and true word of God and is the only infallible guide for faith and practice.
